The main idea is that every tree has a purpose in our ecosystem and each tree should be appreciated. When I look at the tree, I see a healthy green oxygen producer with branches teeming with chirping birds. I don’t regard this living tree as profitable for me. It serves a larger purpose.
We began this local sustainability project seven years ago to help nature, to clean up and socialise the local neighbourhood, and transform damaged, fallen, and unhealthy trees into craft materials that might provide income to the local community and artists around the UK.
Because this project is centered around proximity, we collaborate with the local council, to begin with the environment closest to us. We utilise wood from our doorstep to prevent trees from burning and to save driving to pick up wood from further away, decreasing our CO2 footprint. Not only that, but it is also very much about the locals. We volunteer in our neighbourhood by assisting older people with damaged or fallen trees in their gardens, followed by tea and a lovely chat.
We can proudly state that we recognise 99% of the trees growing in England and Wales, know their characteristics, and know the optimal use for each of them.
We continue to support our NHS by offering friendlier pricing. Additionally, we involve elderly people in our project to combat depression and make them feel useful.
During the last seven years, we’ve made many like-minded friends who provide invaluable advice, enthusiasm, and assistance, making it an indispensable component of our work.
